Investing in opportunities that grow with the child!
My Mother's Voice was founded in 2006 to be a catalyst of hope, the spark of change for children with fewer opportunities.
Without effort and action, the needs of so many children are unfulfilled.
The current majority viewpoint is to focus on the problems. Media stories are perpetuated with a spotlight on negative results and an endless whine about failing generations. When bad things happen, when poor results are released, the blame is broadcast indiscriminately, widely, and endlessly.
MMV is at its core a social entrepreneurial model that is solution based, responding quickly and effectively to entrenched problems of poverty, low functioning education levels, and widening economic demographics. We are change-makers. We are working with children and families to build the long-term solutions to interconnected problems. Low education levels, lack of sustainable employment lead to dependency and few opportunities.
We have started to increase the positive outcomes for those we assist to increase the successful response. The more we can help students read, for example, the better equipped they are to be successful in the next grade, to find their talent, and set their own goals. If we provide the opportunities early for enrichment in music and the arts, participation in technological inquiry, the more their world expands to make them participants.
In 2016, over 2,000 children have a book of their own, paper and pencils, and supplies to expand their school work assignments. It was through the help of donors, that we have thousands more young children in our own community who feel gifted, special and eager to take on more challenges.
We have teen parents who have broken the bonds of dependency and are placing their children in safe day-schooling centers while they continue their own education and pursue a career. These children will not follow into entitlement programs. There is measurable personal and economic success for the participant and for our communities. We have single parents establishing new healthy family patterns while continuing financial stability. Foster children and very low income children are finding healthy outlets with music and arts programs.
Through the support of our donors and volunteers, we can continue to change the lives and support the success of our youngest children and students, foster children, and young parents. We can open up the opportunities to more children who will in turn give back to all of us. To share in the success of a child, donate now, volunteer, or sign up to stay connected. You are part of this growing network of changemakers, innovating sustainable solutions to deliver social and economic value to our communities.
